Studies have proven that Massage Therapy is not just a luxury. There was a study on if touch was necessary. Two groups were formed of babies. One group received as much touch and love as possible during any activity. The other group was required to receive nearly no touch at all including during diaper changes. The group that received touch flourished and experienced long-term happiness. The group that received little to no touch died by the age of 2 years old.
Massage Therapy is used for more than just pain relief or an every now and again feel good experience. It is an effective therapeutic treatment that will help stimulate healing plus reduce stress, pain, and tension. Many people don't seem to know this, but Massage Therapy is recommended about every 2 weeks on average. Although the frequency of sessions varies for each person, I'd say that more than 90% of the population of the world needs a session every 2 weeks due to stress alone. It's easy to forget that complications and illnesses are caused by stress. There are so many reasons to receive Massage Therapy regularly that I always recommend doing research about the benefits. If you have chronic pain, an injury, or a condition that could be due to a high amount of stress, Massage Therapy is recommended weekly. It's rare that someone can receive a Massage Therapy once a month and have it be enough. So if you think touch is insignificant or doesn't have a huge impact on your life, think again. Touch is more important than anyone gives credit. Simply through touch, the brain releases chemicals such as endorphin, serotonin, and dopamine which are necessary chemicals in experiencing happiness and countering conditions such as depression. Consider your lifestyle and the condition of your body in order to know what frequency you need. The concept is to maintain and prevent problems rather than treat them as they happen. Types Of Massage Therapy Sessions:
I don't believe in one standard routine for my services including Massage Therapy. I believe in a progression of the experience based on your session frequency. You can experience a new you after each and every Massage Therapy session. For long term results, regular Massage Therapy sessions are necessary. If this is your first time considering frequent Massage Therapy sessions, think about who you are now. Feel free to track your own progress. My regular Massage Therapy clients are constantly telling me the improvement they notice and feel. I absolutely love it! I'm doing what I do to experience the long term results with you. I love the change in the process and love to hear it from you first hand. During your Massage Therapy sessions, we can talk or if you need to drift into a deep meditative state or even go to sleep, I am perfectly fine with any of these states of consciousness that hep you to relax. During your Massage Therapy session, the best way you can help your provider and yourself is by staying relaxed and not worrying about how you need to help. When you use your muscles during a massage therapy session, it interferes with your relaxation experience and may confuse the provider since muscle contractions are read. For the best Massage Therapy experience, stay completely relaxed and let your provider do all of the work for you. If you are wanting to experience a deep meditative state or even fall asleep during your Massage Therapy session, focus on deep and rhythmic breathing. If it helps, envision the waves of the ocean and try to sync your breathing with the waves in a slow and steady manner. This is your time to not worry and release your stress. What To Do After Each Massage Therapy Session
After you receive any type of Massage Therapy, there are things you need to do in order to enhance the benefits you receive. The first 24 hours after a session are the most important. Massage Therapy helps to prime the body for water, so it is extremely important to stay away from things that dehydrate your body like coffee, tea, alcohol, or soda. They do ruin the process of the work you received. Instead of other fluids, focus only on hydration by drinking at least a gallon of water. Our goal is to re-hydrate all of the systems in your body. By properly hydrating, you will stimulate healing, reduce any soreness you may experience, and extend the benefits of your Massage Therapy. If you take medications or supplements such as vitamins, they do dehydrate due to the compounding effects. Continue taking them as recommended by your physician, simply drink more than a gallon to compensate for their dehydrating effects. Since Massage Therapy and others services are a manipulation of the tissue, your body needs at least 24 hours of recovery time. It is extremely important to avoid highly aerobic activities such as running as well as any heavy lifting. Ignoring this advice can reverse the effects of your session and potentially make the condition of your body worse. So, please take this advice seriously and follow all of it accordingly. If you have chronic pain (long-lasting pain), an injury, or recently recovered from post-surgery, it is necessary for you to follow the above advice for at least 48 hours up to 72 hours. If you are able to abide the advice for 72 hours without stressing, it's your best consideration. When you get home or to a good location, it's a good idea to fill a pitcher of water with processed water. You can use alkaline water as well as long as it is processed also. Carefully cut up some fruit, and place the fruit inside of the pitcher. This will create the infused water concept, add some extra flavor and nutrients, plus allow you to eat the fruit after. The infused water concept is not necessary but it allows you to have some fun and extend the experience. Please keep in mind that it is important that you try not to stress over any of this. All of this information is provided to enhance your experience and give you optimal results after each session. Think of this recovery period as your time to rest and recharge.
